Summer Skool Freedom Style

So you have the summer off. Now is the time to learn what the schools didn't teach you. If you look at the right hand side you have plenty to go on this summer. I call it the 30-30-30. There are over 30 (s)heroes, 30 films and 30 books for you to choose from this summer. It's time to get to it. Represent for La Raza.

A Film Festival Celebrating Youth Workers

WHAT IS YOUTH WORK?
Youth Work is a professional field designed for the purpose of working with, for, or on
behalf of children and youth to facilitate their personal, social, educational, and ethical
development that enables them to gain a voice, influence, and a place in society as they
make the transition from dependence to independence. Youth Work aims to engage
youth in their communities and bring about change in an unequal society.

FILM GUIDELINES:
• Film must not exceed 10 minutes (including title and credits)
• Films can be of any type (documentary, narrative, etc) but must be based on nonfiction,
real life experiences
• Only films about, or directly impacting, Youth Work will be considered
• Films can be submitted by an individual or as an organization that works with or on
behalf of youth

SUBMISSION:
• Early Deadline: May 6 (received date)
• Late Deadline: May 20 (received date)
• Formats accepted: MiniDV or DVD
• Mail to:

CHECKLIST:
Please include the following in your Submission Packet
• MiniDV or DVD – please label your film with the following:
o Title
o Total Running Time (TRT)
o Contact Phone
o Contact Email
o Contact Address
• Short synopsis of film
• List of Cast and Crew
• Video Still
• Include a self addressed stamped envelope if the film is to be returned

PRIZES:
• $500 cash gift for Curator’s Award
• Additional cash gift for Audience Award
Selected films will be announced on Wednesday, May 27th, 4:30pm PST
